NOTICE OF RACE (NOR)


1) RULES The regatta shall be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing), the National Sweet Sixteen Sailing Association (NSSSA) By-Laws, Class Rules, and Standing Rules, and this Notice of Race, except as any of these are changed by the Sailing Instructions or any appendices to the Sailing Instructions.

2) SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions (SI) will be available at check-in and on the Jacomo Sailing Club website (jacomosailingclub.org)

3) ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY This regatta is open to all sailors sailing a Sweet 16. Skippers are required to be a member of the National Sweet Sixteen Sailing Association (NSSSA). Participants are not required to be members of Jacomo Sailing Club. The purpose of this regatta is to promote and grow the class, celebrate the Sweet Sixteen sailboat, and determine the 2024 class champion.

5) REGISTRATION AND FEES
       
Registrations will be online at www.jacomosailingclub.org/events

  • Registration Fee: $50  

  • Membership Dues: $25 

  • Off lake permits: $15

  • T-shirts: $25 

  • Guest Picnic Pass: $20


Registration deadline is Saturday Aug 24th, 2024 @ 9:00 AM.

Registration must be made by Wednesday Aug 21, 2024 @ 12:00 PM to guarantee skipper and crew meals.

Registration fee includes: Light breakfast, sack lunches, snacks, and after race picnic for both skipper and crew. 

Membership dues are required of at least 1 person on the boat. This allows for the boat to be scored. These dues keep the S16 Sailing Association running smoothly. 

Off-lake boats are required to display a Jackson County Lake permit. Permits may be purchased for your boat during online registration. Permits will be provided to you at check-in.

Regatta long sleeve sun shirts will be available for pre-order for $25 each.

6) COURSES TO BE SAILED The courses will be determined by the PRO prior to the Competitors Meeting and based on likely wind conditions. Possible courses will be illustrated in Appendix A of the published Sailing Instructions. Final decisions will be announced at the competitors meeting and displayed on the back of the committee boat . 

7) SCORING Scoring will be Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A. 

One race will constitute a Regatta. There will be no separate classes, all boats shall be scored together. 

8) AWARDS Awards will be presented to the top five Finishers. Trophies or certificates will be awarded during the Awards Ceremony at the conclusion of racing on Sunday. Race results will be posted at the Awards Ceremony and as soon as possible afterward on the NSSSA website (https://www.s16.org/).

9) RISK It is the competitor’s decision to enter the regatta and to start or continue any race. By participating in an event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks.  The organizing authority, the race committee, Jacomo Sailing Club, and Sweet 16 Sailing Association will not accept any responsibility for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, or prior to, during, or after these events.

10) ACCOMMODATIONS Lake Jacomo is located in Fleming Park in Blue Springs, Missouri. Overnight camping is available nearby inside the park. Several hotels are available locally. Event organizers are happy to assist you with arranging for accommodations.
